The Poldi Pezzoli Museum

This guide is designed to accompany visitors in discovering one of the most fascinating house museums in Europe, the legacy of Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli, one of the most learned and refined collectors of the nineteenth century, who chose to donate his home, together with the artworks it contained, to the city so that everyone might come into contact with beauty and draw inspiration from it. Alongside the iconic "Dama" by Piero del Pollaiolo and the nineteenth century portraits by Francesco Hayez, the rooms of this house are animated by precious Murano glass, arms and armor, medieval goldsmith works, tapestries with legendary stories, antique clocks, and porcelain. Over the years they have also been enriched by important donations, including "Il cavaliere in nero" by Giovan Battista Moroni, the "Vergine che legge" attributed to Antonello da Messina, and "L'interno del Pantheon a Roma" by Giovanni Paolo Panini.
