This exceptional book tells about history by means of illustrations from historic atlases. These illustrations taken from three Dutch atlases provide a fascinating picture of Dutch history: from great events such as the struggle against the Spaniards, royal receptions, our colonial past, Piet Heyn bringing in the treasure fleet, and the escape of Hugo de Groot, to less majestic events such as a women's skating race or the beaching of sperm whales.
