On 8 September, 1943 Italy announced the armistice with the Allied Forces. It was an unconditional surrender. But, something moved under the counter. There was in fact another table, the unofficial one, where the Badoglio government continued to cooperate with the old German friend. Between blackmails, hostages, threats and subterfuges, the illustrious prisoner Mussolini was a taken from the Allies and handed over to the Germans, on 12 September in Campo Imperatore. The agent Nelio Pannuti, in charge of the personal surveillance of Mussolini at the Grand Sasso, in an interview with the author of this work, stated that the German incursion: "it seemed like a concerted action, so much that, once the Duce was released, there was a convivial moment between the Italian and German soldiers in the hall of the hotel, all with weapons on their backs peacefully. For those who don't know: the historical manuals have always narrated about the effectiveness of the German intelligence and of the epic enterprise of their paratroopers to free Mussolini. But what efficiency! What nonsense! Everyone knew that the Duce was prisoner at Campo Imperatore, even the children. There was even a thirteen year old shepherd boy that stole from the German gliders taking possession of some armaments. Not to mention the Italian complicity in the historic readjustment. The commander of Carabineers at Gran Sasso Alberto Faiola, was even commended, when instead, not only he didn't prepare any precautionary measure, but he also failed in his duties by inviting some of his friends in those days at the hotel in Campo Imperatore. In short, a new historical truth that is told since the beginning thanks to the testimony - unknown to many - of Kar Radl, the aide of the one that was always mistakenly considered the real author of "Operation Oak": Captain Otto Skorzeny.
