Greek Catania. From Colony to Polis. For the first time in a monographic research, this book takes into consideration the history of the Sicilian city from the eighth to the second Century BC, on the basis of the literary tradition, epigraphic data and recent archaeological discoveries in Catania and the neighboring territories. The archaic phases of the Greek colony appear under a new light, also thanks to the identification of the city walls, which allow the author to reconstruct the extension of the apoikia between the seventh and sixth Centuries BC. On the historical and epigraphic level, a substantial discussion is devoted to the lawgiver Caronda and the division of the land, located not far from the colonial settlement in the Archaic period.
