In the early twentieth century Gianni Maimeri, an inquisitive painter with a delicate touch, attended performances at La Scala with pencil and sketchbook in hand, immortalizing the great conductors at the height of their creative efforts with the intent of making sound visible. His grandson and namesake, today the president of the Fondazione Maimeri, has taken that eccentric and somewhat
utopian idea of merging art and music and translated it into a series of events which, inaugurated in 1997 by Emilio Tadini and Sarah Jane Morris, have become the joy of music and art lovers. The Color of Music happily celebrates its seventh edition with the unusual and unanticipated pairing of Valerio Adami and Mario Lavezzi.
