Ercole Pignatelli (Lecce, 1935) is a complex and fascinating painter who "creates" oasis, mirages and wonderful gardens with quick brushstrokes, in harmony with the classic sense of rational order. Although they look like general landscapes, his paintings show a soft brightness and combine tradition and experimentation with mastery. The volume includes old and recent works as well as opposing opinions, an extensive critical anthology and a long, well-articulated interview to the artist.
